Due to how out of shape I am, Gnorb easily caught and tagged me to share 7 random facts about myself. Strangely, I sensed some déjà vu—due to the fact that I had already completed a similar meme last year. Always one to enjoy talking about myself, I am complying and listing 7 new facts that reflect how much I have changed since then.

  1. I have never been to an amusement park in my life. My family is not the type which goes to touristy places, and I never had the desire to go. I’ve gone to 1 or 2 county fairs, but certainly no Disneyland, Legoland or Six Flags. I think I dodged a bullet on that one, simply because I almost never enjoy something which is supposed to be fun. (Hence why I am writing this blog instead of being outside.)
  2. I am a Mac (user). I love my MacBook Pro, and would never switch back to Doors.
  3. I enjoy watching crappy romantic comedies. Actually, I enjoy watching any form of comedy—no matter the quality.
  4. I have Pantophobia. That is, I am afraid of everything. You name it, and 9 times out of 10 I am afraid of it. I’m not cripplingly afraid of everything, I just mildly cringe whenever I encounter most things I fear slightly.
  5. I am an Independent. Usually, I support Democrats, but when a strong Republican candidate comes along I will support him. I supported both Ron Paul and Barack Obama.
  6. I hardly ever read books. I used to read a lot, but I almost never have time anymore. This is something I want to fix, but in the meantime I read classics via DailyLit.
  7. I am an active contributor to the Habari Project. This is the first time I have extensively worked on an open source project, and I am really excited about the directions we are headed in.

Hopefully, this didn’t bore you too much. It was tough to think of new, interesting facts that I hadn’t already mentioned. Following the spirit of the meme, here are 7 people I would like to tag (if I can catch them):

Once again, thanks to Gnorb for tagging me. I look forward to reading the responses of the people who I tagged, all of whom are much more interesting than me.

For inquisitive minds, the PHP script I used for the title of this post would print 7 random numbers.

8 Random Facts

After both Sarah and Paul tagged me with the latest meme I figured I’d better respond. Here’s how this one goes:

  • Players start with 8 random facts about themselves.
  • Those who are tagged should post these rules and their 8 random facts.
  • Players should tag eight other people and notify them that they have been tagged.

Without further ado, I present to you the stars of the show:

  1. I own 9 domain names: gogeni.us, hinesburgcenter.org, mastermade.info, mastermade.us, mastermadetech.com, myfla.ws, newlyancient.com, newlyancient.info, and yougot.info. What can I say? I like domains… (and their cheap)
  2. I do not get any television channels. In fact, I do not know why I even have a television when we could easily just watch movies on the computer. It’s not that I think television as a medium is horrible, it’s just that most of the TV shows out there are total crap. I prefer YouTube for entertainment and Google News for information.
  3. I listen to a wide variety of music: from heavy metal to classical. Don’t believe me? Just ask last.fm.
  4. My parents have never been married. Therefore, I suppose you could call me illegitimate. However, I carry my father’s last name and see him regularly. Just don’t burn me at the stake…
  5. I live in a small, rural town nestled in the foothills of the Green Mountains. My previous school has about 400 students and the one I will be attending has about 1,400 students.
  6. I am an atheist. My mother is Jewish and my father is Christian, but I find it extremely hard to accept any faith. Nothing is true until proved so. Science rules!
  7. I am currently running a computer built by me with a 2.2 ghz processor and 4 gb of ram. I dual boot between Ubuntu and XP. However, in the fall, I want to get myself a nice MacBook.
  8. I have an A+ average in school and hope to never drop below an A. Yes, call me a nerd… it’s true.

Well, now I go on to the difficult business of finding 8 people to tag… here goes:

  1. gradster
  2. Josh
  3. Christian
  4. Will
  5. Dan Meyer
  6. Tony Lucchese
  7. Ethan Bodnar
  8. Gnorb

5.5 Things You Didn’t Know About Me

There is no guaruntee that you don’t know these things. Any reading time lost will not be compensated. Read responsibly.

As I watched this meme work its way around the blogesphere I thought of things people don’t know about me that I an comfortable sharing. Some things I would be perfectly happy sharing… except that some people from school sometimes go on here. My answers might be embarrassing so I found myself in a conflict between transparency and safety. So, when Jess finally tagged me I had them flying around in my head, ready to be unleashed.

  1. I enjoy listening to rock, jazz, classical, and any other type of music. What can I say? I’m a person of variety. However, I don’t listen to them all at once - I will listen to one genre when I am in a certain frame of mind and another when I am trying to sleep. I wonder if you can guess which is for when… :)
  2. I have never broken a bone in my body. I also haven’t had stitches or any serious illnesses. No, I don’t eat a lot of apples. I just tend to avoid situations where I could get hurt - it’s awfully hard to brake a bone by falling out of your chair in front of your computer. Lucky me!
  3. I am in 8th grade and go to a small school in Hinesburg, Vermont, USA
  4. . I enjoy living in a small town but also want to see the big city so I can learn more about technology and pop culture.
  5. I don’t like to travel. Traveling can cause a lot of stress and I don’t like stress at all. If I am going to see family and know I will be comfortable there I can usually handle it. Otherwise, I really don’t like to travel. This will proboably inhibit me from seeing all the great things in the world but the fact is that I am perfectly happy to see them all from the comfort of my chair.
  6. I am afraid of girls (that I like). No, not as in cooties. I can’t ask a girl to dance and I have never had any kind of relationship with a girl. It is hard for me to even talk to them if I like them. Hopefully, I will look back for my yearly summary and think What an idiot I was back then.

Well, there you go - some things you probably knew or guessed already. Thanks, Jess, for including me in a meme! :) Instead of tagging another blogger, I am going to offer this meme to my peers on our team blog. Let’s Let me see if anyone responds. Not unlike Time Magazine, I will also nominate you. Actually, you must be someone who doesn’t have their own blog. I want to hear from some of my readers who aren’t geeks - who haven’t already been tagged. What are 5 things about a non-blogger but reader that I didn’t already know?

As for the last .5 thing, I do actually participate in memes. Also, something I didn’t even know myself - I do have friends.
