Offer From Google

This morning, I received a very interesting email from Google. Apparently, they are interested in my work with education and would like to ensure I can continue this work without having to worry about internet, hosting, or food.

Good morning, Arthus Erea. I am Sergey Paper, director of future education relations at Google. Having looked through your work and seen your abilities, I would like to extend you the opportunity to assist us on new projects at Google. Your first project will be supporting the introduction of TiSP in schools. \Hopefully, you can lead student marches to rebel against schools not connected to TiSP and provide literature about the possible applications. Additionally, your assistance in product development could be invaluable. We would be happy to tailor our services to an educational model - including reduced speed teacher connections and bully connection rejection (clear the bathroom). For these services, we will provide you a server farm, Royal Flush TiSP for life, as well as a monthly stipend of $1,000,000. Hopefully, you will accept this opportunity. If not, we have an army of penguins flying swimming towards your house.

Obviously, this offer is too good to refuse. I will be accepting it and flying out to Mountain View tomorrow. Wish me luck and check your plumbing!

The Passing of the Animals

Another year has passed and change can be smelled in the air. For this night, can all act like politicians for one night. We get to make promises we proboably won’t keep and hit the parties. We can also reflect upon the past year and its ups and downs. For me, 2006 was one of my better years. I started this blog and with it have developed my writing voice. I have written with this new voice about education and have come out with some interesting posts. I have also become a happier person. However, some sad things also happened. My great dog passed away and I don’t have many any friends. Still, overall the year of the dog came out positive.

Now I get to act like a politician. Hi folks, I’m Arthus Erea and I will be running as an independent. Among carrying out the wishes of my voters lobbyists, I will be working on a few goals.

  • Increase the value I give to others: Basically, I want to shed out of my negative shell of being a jerk and be kinder to other people - even if there’s no profit for me.
  • Develop my writing: I want to further develop my writing voice and hopefully increase the number of people who read my writing.
  • Lower my BMI: I’m not trying to lose weight - I’m growing taller so that would really be pointless. However, I do want to lower the proportion of me height to my weight.
  • Be cooler with girls: This could come out as me dancing with them or just getting into conversations more easily. A lot of this is about getting courage and not being so awkward.

So there you have it-what the year of the pig means for me. So what will my opponents be promising? (and not delivering)

iWish for Wishlistr

If I could have 3 wishes, I would wish that I would never get tired, would live until I chose to cease living, and had magical powers. :) Using those three things I could accomplish many of the typical wishes like peace on Earth and unmeasurable wealth. Unfortunately, not everyone has a fairy godmother (or some such magical being) so I am having to keep myself to some more feasible wishes. I really don’t like making wish lists since there is very little stuff I want that is within reason. Indeed, I don’t like the whole gift giving model where people get lots of different gifts which they may not like and probably don’t need. If I had my way, all I would get was cash which I could pool together to buy myself something really cool like a brand new, top-of-the-line CPU. Still, I finally ironed the list down to a few items which I would definitely enjoy (and some of which I need). No, your monitor isn’t on the fritz, I am actually asking for an iPod. That’s right, I am a teenage geek without an iPod. For the most part, the reason I haven’t bought one for myself is that I don’t leave my computer very much besides for going to school. However, I am starting a new exercise routine and will want to listen to music with it. iWish for an iPod.

Now, with the iPod explanation out of the way I go into the technology review portion of this evening. To create this list I used the fabulous Wishlistr service. This well designed and AJAXified tool has all of the great features like RSS, email tools and community aspects. Creating my list was easy and fun to do with Wishlistr. I can only hope that after reading Bulletproof Web Design, (another item on my list) I will be able to create a fluid and simplistic interface like Wishlistr’s. If you haven’t already created a list, I highly recommend that you use Wishlistr to tell everyone what you want and probably won’t get.
