Remember the fiasco in Kansas when the school board attempted to replace evolution with creationism in schools? I believe this is absolutely unacceptable, since intelligent design is not a scientific theory, but a religious doctrine. Well, the very same person who supported the effort to cut down the wall seperating church and state is now running uncontested as President of the National Association of State Boards of Education. Should Kenneth R. Willard be elected, I am worried that he may attempt to repeat Kansas - on a national basis. The group does not establish curriculum, but works to strengthen state leadership in educational policymaking.
By using this influence, the group could encourage the teaching of intelligent design in the classroom. Hopefully, states will send a strong message and uphold the separation of church and state by refusing to endorse a creationist in the classroom. Save creationism for Sundays, keep evolution in schools.
