Photosynth, from Microsoft, is just plain awesome. This incredible application loads photos from Flickr and determines where they should go in the world. While this may seem simple at first, the potential is amazing. To truly get the feeling of how incredible this is, you need to explore the Basilica of St. Mark in a 3D environment - from the view of hundreds of different cameras. Once this is deployed live, how long will it be before every place on the planet is viewable from a combination of different views? Almost makes Google Street Views look like a preschooler’s drawing.
