Another year has passed and change can be smelled in the air. For this night, can all act like politicians for one night. We get to make promises we proboably won’t keep and hit the parties. We can also reflect upon the past year and its ups and downs. For me, 2006 was one of my better years. I started this blog and with it have developed my writing voice. I have written with this new voice about education and have come out with some interesting posts. I have also become a happier person. However, some sad things also happened. My great dog passed away and I don’t have many any friends. Still, overall the year of the dog came out positive.
Now I get to act like a politician. Hi folks, I’m Arthus Erea and I will be running as an independent. Among carrying out the wishes of my voters lobbyists, I will be working on a few goals.
- Increase the value I give to others: Basically, I want to shed out of my negative shell of being a jerk and be kinder to other people - even if there’s no profit for me.
- Develop my writing: I want to further develop my writing voice and hopefully increase the number of people who read my writing.
- Lower my BMI: I’m not trying to lose weight - I’m growing taller so that would really be pointless. However, I do want to lower the proportion of me height to my weight.
- Be cooler with girls: This could come out as me dancing with them or just getting into conversations more easily. A lot of this is about getting courage and not being so awkward.
So there you have it-what the year of the pig means for me. So what will my opponents be promising? (and not delivering)

Ha. I usually don’t make resolutions, because I can never keep them. Even though it’s the first hour of the new year, I already feel like a new person, so maybe I will make a resolution. I haven’t decided yet, since I like to think things through to death.
Happy New Year, Arthus! I hope things turn out well for you in 2007.
I probably wouldn’t make new years resolutions if school hadn’t put a drilled the idea of setting goal after goal into my head. Still, my theory is - you might as well make them since they aren’t going to hurt you. I’m glad to see that you did end up making some resolutions.
great writing voice.. but I am prejudiced!
