Top of the Mountain

I live on a mountain of great technology. Every part of it is mouse-selected for optimal performance and technology. Yet, until a few weeks ago I was unable to fully appreciate the great view from my computer. Then it all changed. I discovered the great Vista. Fast enough for me to desert Linux, pretty enough to beat a mac, and compatible enough to top XP, Windows Vista is the pinnacle of excellence. Of course there’s also the fact that my hardware scores a top score of 5.9 on the “Windows Experience Index. (That’s right, drool in envy) I am writing this post in Word 2007 on Windows Vista. I do everything else in Vista too. “Why? you ask. I answer you with my faithful friend the unordered list:
  • Eye candy – Windows Vista has the works: a beautiful theme, transparency on everything, and a very rounded look
  • Speed – Beats Ubuntu 5 times over and more
  • Stability – Vista is at least twice as stable as XP and does a great job of isolating problems
If you’re still not convinced, get this: I haven’t booted into anything besides Vista since I got it installed. Finally, it’s free and who wouldn’t like that. I also see Vista being great in an educational environment. It locks settings down very well (almost too well) so there wouldn’t be any problems with little nerds “breaking stuff (rolls eyes). With Office 2007 working perfectly on it, I don’t see a reason for students & teachers not to use it. Besides, it is very fast for the more domestic applications and I can’t remember the last time a school tried to do anything complex. I herby decree that everyone, especially students and teachers, should go download vista at their earliest possible convenience. (Right now seems pretty convenient since you’re actually taking the time to read this)

Vista sucks. No offense to you, but the stuff that people have been raving about, Macs have had for years.

Vista most certainly does not suck. Even if it has some features that macs have had for a couple of years, there are some things macs most certainly do not have. For one thing, there is great security in Vista and everything is very smoothly done. I don’t own a mac and don’t intend to - Apple is too ‘cool’. However, I am no longer using Windows anymore either. I am now running Ubuntu Linux as my primary OS.
