The Cost of Independence

Late post about Independence Day: As I sit on the grass, being attacked by millions of bugs, I think. Mostly about girls and computers. But, I also think about why every year it happens. People donate their time, energy, and money. Risks are taken; resources are used. And all for a simple celebration. But think, didn’t those who gave us cause for this celebration just fight for a ‘simple’ freedom. Whatever the cost, maybe we should be continuing these celebrations to show our patriotism. Really, I think the reason for these isn’t because people want to show respect or honor. Rather they have the perfectly good reason of wanting to have fun. As thousands of dollars shoot into the air, I cease to think. I simple lay back and watch the fireworks drift away, just like my thoughts.
